Vita

Charlotte Zieske studied social sciences in Hanover and developed an early interest in issues relating to the sociology of work and organizations. She is currently completing her master’s degree in sociology and is taking the opportunity to delve even deeper into the sociology of work and organizations. During her bachelor’s degree, she worked on student research projects – both empirical and theoretical – on organizational sociology issues and is continuing this exploration with the same enthusiasm in her master’s degree.

In addition to her studies, Charlotte has been and continues to be active at the university, whether as a student assistant or as part of a continuing education program exclusively for women. She has also initiated her own series of events for students at the university, focusing on career prospects for sociologists.

In her master’s thesis, Charlotte examines the public image of organizations and, using empirical material she collected herself, ties in with Nils Brunsson’s classic organizational theory of “organized hypocrisy” – and thus with the question of why organizations can hardly do without a certain degree of pretense and contradiction.

Personal interests

Sociology is also a part of Charlotte’s free time: when she goes for walks in nature, she finds opportunities to reflect on her observations and “sociologize” them extensively. She also enjoys going to the opera.
